We are a family run business specialising in the retail of airguns, CO2 guns, shotguns & firearms, including related clothing & accessories. We pride ourselves on customer service & honest business practices which we believe to be the most important aspect of our business.

Our business has been established since 1985 when Tim & Janet McAvoy (Partners of the business) opened  T & J. J. McAvoy Gunsmiths on High Street in Standish. Tim McAvoy had previously worked in the gun trade from 1972 where he started with just a Saturday job & his interest & knowledge of guns went from strength to strength.

Along with their three daughters, Tim & Janet McAvoy have worked hard to grow the business & establish their well known name. We pride ourselves in offering a friendly service, many people have been returning customers since the business was first launched & we fully appreciate their loyalty & friendship throughout these many years.

The amount of stock we hold is immense, with over 3500 guns in stock at any one time, plus tens of thousands of accessories, and ammunition has meant that we have outgrown our store located on High Street in Standish. In November 2011 we opened the doors to our new store at 'The Dog & Cartridge' 33 School Lane in Standish. Our new store provides much more space than our previous store, improved display areas, Hot drinks vending machine, customer parking, air conditioning & much more!

We now have eleven shop assistants; Tim, Janet, Amy, Hannah, Sally, Mark, Dave, Natalie, Ian, Liam & Phil

Left to right; Sally, Janet, Hannah, Tim, Amy, Mike, Dottie dog, Valle.

Customer testimonials;

Hello,

I was hoping that you could include the following on your site.

I have just bought an air rifle and part exchanged two other airguns.

The service I received from Tim was exemplary, the deal he offered exceeded my expectations and he has a sense of humour which I appreciated.

His knowledge was, in my opinion, second to none, although at the time of my visit the shop was extremely busy he dedicated the time to meet my needs.

In fact during my wait while Tim ironed out my problems I noticed that all of the staff had the same attitude towards their customers(both in person and over the phone), nothing seemed too much trouble.

I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.

The dogs were lovely too.

There are no gunsmiths in Liverpool any more so if you have any shooting needs go to McAvoys Guns.

Many thanks

Peter Hepple
